The West Cliff of Ramsgate bristles with stunning and compact squares and terraces. Liverpool Lawn is perhaps the most beautiful. We were asked to develop a scheme to re-employ sheltered and underused space to the rear of a grade II listed terrace house.
The owner briefed Fleet to Design a generous space to contrast with the dainty spaces of the existing house. The proposal we prepared includes a pair of vaults one of which houses a new ‘salon’.
The initial proposals also included a new bathroom peeking into the vault space of the salon from a first floor cantilever.
Fleet have a strong track record in working within listed contexts, providing contemporary designs that react to and draw from their context without resorting to pastiche.
