Fleet Architects assisted MAAP (Now Medical Architecture) with the evolution of a large new teaching hospital for a state capital in Australia.
The proposed scheme encapsulated contemporary best practice, and used an innovative approach to site wide organisation which integrated fully with the urban setting.
The details of the final proposals are confidential as the proposal will form the basis for a PPP competition. Principally the scheme uses a chassis of cores and a subterranean support network with a standardised grid of 14.2m for the wards and 24.3m for all technical areas.
Additionally the proposal draws the grid of the CBD into the site to connect the new hospital campus with the inner commercial area of the city.
