Fleet were invited to undertake an feasibility study and options appraisal for the redevelopment of a prominent site addressing Northdown Road in Margate, and adjacent to the celebrated resort studio, art complex.
The site benefited from permission having previously been granted for a 21 unit scheme and the evaluation of this scheme was the first exercise.
The following elements explored how the historically important site could be better used while also relating to the surrounding context.
The preferred scheme reduces the site use to 9 units, including a terrace of 3 town houses. Spatially exciting, along with the smaller dwellings consisting of duplex and single storey flats, the development will provide high quality and extremely sustainable new homes in a under-exploited location.
